“Upon the heavenly abode of Bhai Daya Singh Ji, the leadership of this institution was given to Baba Sobha Singh Ji Anandpur Sahib Wale. Baba Ji was a very chardikala (high-spirited) Sikh who fulfilled their duties whilst taking care of Sri Anandpur Sahib. They done darshan of many Shaheed Singhs such as Baba Deep Singh Ji and Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur.”
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
(2) Baba Sobha Singh Ji Sodhi
Baba Sobha Singh Ji was born at Sri Anandpur Sahib in the Sodhi clan. When the 9th Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, inhabited Sri Anandpur Sahib, a lot of locals built their homes closer to the main Gurdwara complex. Members of the Sodhi clan moved from several parts of Punjab and built their homes near Sri Anandpur Sahib. From a very young age Baba Sobha Singh Ji remained detached and would perform good deeds.
One day Baba Sobha Singh Ji bowed at the feet of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and pleaded to be administered with the gift of Amrit. Guru Gobind Singh Ji replied, “I myself have taken Amrit from the Panj Pyare (5 beloved ones), stop this thinking that there is a need for a new mantar. Practise meditation of the Shabad, do seva, this will assist you in your path , however if you require amrit, then you shall need to go to Bhai Daya Singh Ji”
Following the order of the Guru, Baba Sobha Singh Ji humbly requested Bhai Daya Singh Ji to bless them with the gift of Amrit and to be joined with the greatness that is Sikhi. Then Bhai Daya Singh Ji administered Baba Sobha Singh Ji with the gift of Amrit and told them the Rehat Maryada, this began a total change in the life of Baba Sobha Singh Ji. Baba Sobha Singh Ji began to arise at a very early time in the morning and after having bathed began to engage in ‘Naam Abhiyaas’ for excessive amounts of time on the river banks.
One day Baba Sobha Singh Ji in order to eliminate the doubts in their mind, asked Bhai Daya Singh Ji to explain the path of Shabad-Surt. Bhai Daya Singh Ji agreed and said that Satguru Maharaj Ji’s one blessing upon them is due to be complete. One day Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj was seated in their mauj and told Bhai Daya Singh Ji that they have chose Bhai Daya Singh Ji as the teacher and that Bhai Daya Singh Ji has manifested themselves in the body of Brahm (also known as Brahmgiaan, a level of spirituality where a being becomes one with Waheguru) and have learnt the purpose of the light that is within the soul. This seed that is in the image of giaan (knowledge) will one day become a plant all over Punjab and that the powers will be known worldwide, the samparda of Bhai Daya Singh Ji will flourish. Bhai Daya Singh Ji acknowledge that the time of Guru Sahib giving ‘Mukhvaakh’s’ is now coming to an end.
Bhai Daya Singh Ji explained to Baba Sobha Singh Ji that the way of Shabat-Surt Satsang is self-less service of the congregation. The Langar arrangements for the Sangat must be preserved and one must acknowledge other people’s pain as there own, in order to get rid of them. Baba Sobha Singh after having thoroughly listened understood the teachings of Bhai Daya Singh Ji and respectfully joined their hands together and said -“Mahapursho” Blessed is Guru Gobind Singh Ji and blessed are you Bhai Daya Singh who has understood the true teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, you have seen the true Guru and contain similar qualities! Daas will try and uphold the teachings, the messages and the knowledge you have blessed me with, I shall never forget this!
Bhai Daya Singh Ji embraced Baba Sobha Singh Ji in a loving hug. The hairs upon the body of Baba Sobha Singh Ji began to vibrate and were letting off vibes of “Vah Vah” and the souls of both mahapurkhs joined in one. Bhai Daya Singh Ji blessed Baba Sobha Singh Ji and put their hands on Baba Ji’s head again and again. Bhai Daya Singh Ji then said – “In the coming of time, whichever Sikh comes to you and asks for the gift of Amrit, they will roshan the name of Guru Maharaj and this Samparda in “Chahu Kunt”. Baba Sobha Singh Ji’s life would be changed forever from this point. The early ambrosial hours of the morning would be spent singing the praises of the divine Lord Waheguru and the hours of the day spent serving the congregation with the Langar. Baba Ji would ask every member of the congregation to not leave without eating in the Langar. Having been part of the Sodhi Clan, Baba Sobha Singh Ji knew how to deal with illnesses and medication, and so continued this work when serving the Sangat.
After the heavenly abode of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Bhai Daya Singh Ji, Baba Sobha Singh Ji preserved Sri Anandpur Sahib and along with local Sikhs. As this restoration work continued, Baba Sobha Singh Ji began to be recognised throughout the Sikh world and 1000’s came to them in seek of meditation and blessings, they were seen as treatment for the pain and sorrows of many.
A man was once brought to Baba Sobha Singh Ji. This man was possessed by a demon. Having approached Sri Anandpur Sahib, this man was still at a far away distance from Baba Ji, yet the demon inside the man spoke, “Please don’t take me to such a spiritual being! I am nothing in front of his spiritual powers and will be unable to respond!”
Having heard this Baba i asked who had come. The demon inside the man answered; “I am the grandson of the black demon of Bathinda!” It just so happens that this demon was taken out by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and that Baba Sobha Singh Ji was also present at this point. Having heard this Baba Sobha Singh Ji’s face turned red and they spoke in a loud voice, “O right! You are the Grandson of the demon that was taken out, and I am the grandson of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji! Let’s see how you will be able to maintain yourself?” The possessed man fell on the floor, unconscious. The man had reformed.
Baba Sahib Singh Ji Sodhi had cured and destroyed the pain of many devotees and Sikhs. It’s commonly accepted amongst members of the Sodhi Clan around Sri Anandpur Sahib that Baba Sahib Singh Ji was one of the greatest men to have took birth in the Sodhi Clan. They would give by their hands and wish for well-being of others. Baba Ji devoted their whole life into helping others and performing Par-Upkaar. Baba Ji inspired 1000’s to take Amrit and join with the Guru – Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It was through the seva of the Sangat and the Guru-Ghar that Baba Ji’s amazing life on the earth would come to an end.
The rays of light merge with the sun, and water merges with water.
