Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio

During Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj’s first visit to England in 1974, Sant Ji Maharaj were seated on their chair in a hired out school for a Kirtan programme in London.

A devout follower of Sant Ji Maharaj came and gave £20,000 and bowed in respect of Sant Ji Maharaj. Sant Ji Maharaj told the Sikh to pick up the money and take it back. The Sikh, who had spent a long time collecting this money together, insisted Sant Ji Maharaj take the money. Having refused the money several times, Sant Ji Maharaj asked the Sikh – “Why do you want to give us this money? What’s it’s use?”

The Sikh humbly replied: “You can put it any type of seva (self-less service) you want, langar seva for instance!”

Sant Ji Maharaj answered, “Whose Langar is it? Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s?” (The Sikh agreed) “Well if you consider this money to be of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s, then you should acknowledge that Guru Nanak Dev Ji will do the seva themselves!”

Having said this, Sant Ji Maharaj put their feet on the money and left. At this point, the Garvaiee Singh (P.A.) of Sant Ji Maharaj was in doubts. He kept questioning himself as to why Sant Ji Maharaj had left so much money and was regretting the decision made by Sant Ji Maharaj.

Upon the return of Sant Ji Maharaj to India, Sant Ji Maharaj along with the Jatha were travelling. Sant Ji Maharaj had the car stopped and said that they needed to go to the toilet. It was raining intensely and as Sant Ji Maharaj stepped out the car the Garvaiee Singh held out an umbrella over Sant Ji Maharaj. Sant Ji Maharaj told the garvaiee to move the umbrella. He did so for a short moment and then quickly covered Sant Ji Maharaj with the umbrella again. Sant Ji Maharaj scolded the Garvaiee and told him to close the umbrella. It is said that wherever Sant Ji Maharaj was walking, there was no rain falling and the surrounding areas were drenched with rain!

The Garvaiee still had doubts in his mind regarding the large amount of money left in England. He asked Sant Ji Maharaj – “Sant Ji, I still don’t understand why you left so much money in England, with all that money, we could’ve done so much it’s unbelievable!”

Sant Ji ignored the Garvaiee and told him to wash their hands. As the Garvaiee Singh washed Sant Ji Maharaj’s hands with a Garva (metal pot full of water), gold was pouring out of the Garva ! Much to the shock of the Garvaiee, Sant Ji Maharaj calmly said to the Garvaiee, “Your talking about £20,000? Look at the gold in front of you, still in doubts?”

In his mind, the mortal does not forget Maya; he begs for more and more wealth.

To conclude, Sant Mahapurkh aren’t dependent on money given by devotees or anyone, Sant Mahapurkh are here to do the tasks assigned to them by Waheguru, anything that a Mahapurkh does, it is for the benefit of the world and human beings. The jobs that Sant Mahapurkh are jobs that Waheguru wants doing and the image of a Sant is used an excuse for that. Sant Baba Mann Singh Ji (Pehowa Wale) say that “Money runs after someone who practises Guru Nanak Dev Jis philosophy of “Naam Japna.”  The amount of seva that Sant Baba Mann Singh Ji has done and is still doing is unbelievable to say the least! The money that is spent on seva on let alone a yearly basis, but on a daily basis, is a lot! Sant Baba Mann Singh Ji left £8 Million pound at Southall Havelock Rd Gurdwara for it’s construction. Baba Ji went to every Gurdwara in the UK, Canada and America and never took no money from any stage. All money donated by the sangat was put back into Kaar-Seva and not 1 penny taken back from the Gurdwara stage! Such detachment of money and materialistic possessions is only capable of a being that has contemplated and become one with Waheguru!
Please forgive us if we have made any mistakes.
