Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
In 1960, Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj first went to Chandigarh to carry out Nirbaan Kirtan Updesh. The inhabitants of Chandigarh were individuals who had migrated from areas such as Punjab, Haryana and Lahore to live in big mansion-style houses. In the first Kirtan Divaan, there was not a large turnout as previously anticipated. Baba Waryam Singh Ji became extremely upset and after meeting with Sant Ji Maharaj began to cry and wipe his eyes with a cloth.
Sant Ji Maharaj asked what was wrong. Baba Waryam Singh Ji explained that they were unable to give the Kirtan Divaan’s the publicity they deserved. Due to there being so much work for Baba Waryam Singh Ji, they were unable to arrange for advertisements.
Sant Ji Maharaj smiled and said – “Do not be upset, it is Waheguru’s job to ensure the Sangat attend, it is not in your hands, you are merely an excuse for this Seva to happen.”
The very next day, masses of Sangat came to attend the Kirtan Divaan. Sheets were having to be spread all around the floor in order for the Sangat to sit down. There was so much Sangat that they had to all sit on the road ahead, overlapping into a school’s gardens across the road. Wherever one was to look, there was masses of Sangat.
After finishing Kirtan, Sant Ji Maharaj returned to their resting place and said to Baba Waryam Singh Ji – “Are you happy now? Your whole day has been spent in serving the mass amounts of Saadh-Sangat.”
