Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
Rattan Singh from Village Kand in Bathinda, was a bus and truck driver within Calcutta. He was 40 years old and suffering from Tuberculosis, otherwise referred to as T.B. After visiting several hospitals and doctors, Rattan Singh was told that it was impossible for him to survive. The only advice Doctors were able to give to Rattan Singh was to travel to a religious place of worship and spend his last days in service of the Lord Waheguru.
Rattan Singh went to a Gurdwara Sahib known as Patne Sahib in Calcutta where he vowed to do Seva at until his last breath. However after spending some time here, Rattan Singh became discontent. Rattan Singh spoke to his fellow truck drivers about his problem, to which he was advised to go to Gurdwara Karamsar, Rara Sahib.
Rattan Singh, not having many options left, decided to go meet Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale). Upon arriving, he explained his whole situation to Sant Ji Maharaj and even went as far as showing documents relating to his illness and coming death. Rattan Singh asked Sant Ji Maharaj what he should do in his last days and stated specifically that he had come to Rara Sahib to die. Sant Ji Maharaj instructed him to do Sri Mool Mantar Paath and wash the used utensils of the Sangat. Rattan Singh also began cleaning the roads on which the Sangat would arrive to Rara Sahib.
