Category: Stories about Sant Ji Maharaj

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,

In Indian culture there is a festival known as ‘Rakhri’ (sometimes referred to as Rakhsha Bandhan). The festival and its rituals have no significant relevance to Sikhi however is widely celebrated by Punjabi Sikhs as it signifies the love between a brother and a sister. The ritual in itself involves a sister tying a string on her brother’s wrist and in return the brother given her gifts such as money or clothes. Rakhri normally occurs in the month of August.

A family decided to invite Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj to their house on Rakhri day. A young 4 year old girl, who had no brother, was wandering around the house with a string in her hand. Due to Sant Ji Maharaj’s visit to the house, there was a lot of congregation that had gathered. As the girl was wandering around the house, someone noticed her and said to her – “Why are you carrying around a string in the hope of tying it on someone? You have no brother?” Upon hearing this, the girl became extremely sad and began to cry.

On the other hand, Sant Ji Maharaj had arrived. When Sant Ji Maharaj was about to sit down, they heard the sound of the girl crying. Sant Ji Maharaj asked for the girl to be presented before them. The girl arrived infront of Sant Ji Maharaj and continued to cry. Sant Ji Maharaj asked what was wrong, to which the girl explained what had happened.

Sant Ji Maharaj put their wrist forward and said – “Do this, this year tie the string on my wrist. Next year, you’ll have a brother of your own to tie a Rakhri on!”

But if the Compassionate Saint shows His Kindness,
O Nanak, in the Company of the Saints, the slanderer may still be saved. ||1||
To conclude, Sant Mahapurkh are a ocean of compassion and kindness. However, as though there can be faults in the ocean, there can never be any faults in a true Pooran Sant Mahapurkh. Through their compassion, kindness and grace, 1000’s of wandering souls have been united with the Universal Lord Waheguru and will continue to be.
Please forgive us for any mistakes.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio.
