Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,

The below is loosely translated from Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj’s writing ‘Ishwar Amolak Lal’:

The Four stages of “Baani”

1) Baikhri – Repeating ‘Waheguru’ with the mouth and lips is known as ‘Baikhri Baani’ and is the first stage and method of doing Simran

2) Madhama – The spiritual rewards of Madhama Baani are 10 times as great as those obtained from Baikhri Baani. The Madhama stage involves the mouth and lips being closed and the Kanth (throat) being in use when reciting Waheguru

3) Pasanti – The spiritual rewards of Pasant Baani are 10 times are great as those obtained from Madhama Baani. The Pasanti Baani stage involves the recitation of Waheguru occurring in the Hirda (near the heart).

4) Para – The spiritual rewards of Para Baani are 10 times are great as those obtained from Madhama Baani. The Para Baani stage involves the recitation of Waheguru according in the Nabhi (near the belly button). In this stage, the level of concentration is much greater than the previous stages.
