Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
An Amritdhari Lady from Ludhiana whose husband was a severe alcoholic would often visit Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale). The lady herself was blessed with many virtues, but her husband on the opposite hand had many sins. One day, this lady received the opportunity to discuss her issues with Sant Ji Maharaj.
The lady begged Sant Ji Maharaj to convince her husband to give up eating meat and drinking alcohol. Upon hearing this, Sant Ji Maharaj addressed the man and ordered to immediately stop engaging in such activities. The man’s simple reply was ‘I have left it all.”
However this was not enough for the lady. She went on to explain to Sant Ji Maharaj how her husband had made many vows to give up eating meat and drinking alcohol and despite saying that he would never do so again he would eventually end up doing so. Sant Ji Maharaj nodded their head and assured the woman to not worry.
Shortly after this occurrence, the man found himself in an opportunity whereby he was alone. He assumed that there would be no one to stop him and whilst seated in a hotel in Ludhiana, the man prepared a large bowl of meat and prepared alcohol to drink. As the man began attempting to consume the meat and alcohol, he felt himself incapable of doing anything. He was unable to move any part of his body – as though he was being held back by some outer force!
After 15 long minutes of pain and despair, Sant Ji Maharaj’s voice suddenly sounded in his ears. He could hear in Sant Ji Maharaj’s voice the following: “I dare you to attempt to consume meat and alcohol!” The man accepted his fault and felt very ashamed of himself. Once he was able to move again he discarded the meat and alcohol.
He later proceeded to travel to Rara Sahib and beg Sant Ji Maharaj for forgiveness. He asked to be forgiven for the fact that he didn’t live up to his word and continued engaging in cardinal sin.
The lady’s faith and determination in both Gurbani and the powers of Sant Mahapurkhs Bachan is what allowed for her husband to escape the life of sin and commit the remainder of his life in seva of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and the Guru Roop Saadh Sangat.
Please forgive us for any mistakes.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
