Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale) gave the following Updesh to the Behangam Singhs (celibate devotees):
“When you are in the Ashram (Rara Sahib), all attendees must be given utmost respect and love by you. You are to show them so much love that they themselves feel as though they have never experienced so much respect and love. However if you are to see these same attendees outside the boundaries of the Ashram, you are to treat them as though you don’t know who they are.”
The above teachings of Sant Ji Maharaj to the Behangam Singhs in regards to their treatment of attendees holds a lot of value. The fact that they are to spread love and respect within the Ashram reinforces the desire of attendees to join with the Ashram and practise Seva and Simran there. Interaction is vital – when we show others love, they are inclined to develop a likening towards us, and if we adhere to Gursikh Jeevan, our love can inspire others to adopt similar principles.
The teaching on the treatment of attendees outside of the Ashram is important in keeping us away from attachment and suggests that we are not to fall into the trap of trying to make too many friendships.
Please forgive us for any mistakes.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio.
