Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
The year 1965 saw a war amongst India and Pakistan whereby the latter had sent a large number of tanks and weaponry into India. The Prime Minister of India at the time was Lal Bahadur Shastri who was completely convinced that India had no form of machinery or weaponry to counter-attack Pakistan. Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale) were conducting Kirtan Divaans in Delhi as this point, hence giving the opportunity for Shastri to come and seek assistance. Shastri bowed and sat in Sant Ji Maharaj’s feet and explained the problem at hand. He went onto mention the heavy deployment of tanks that will be near impossible for India to destroy.
What appears to be a re-occuring theme when reading and listening to Sant Ji Maharaj’s life tale, was their ability to remain calm, abstain from stress and reassure pained individuals with simple words.
Hearing Shastri’s plea, Sant Ji Maharaj replied – “Do not stress! Simply consult the Sikh Regiment – you will be victorious! The tanks will be reduced to dust…” Hearing this Shastri was convinced. SaadhSangat Ji, history itself is a witness to this event, despite being heavily outnumbered in terms of weaponry, with the support of the Sikh Regiment, India was successful in defeating Pakistan. The following are the names of some of the serving Sikh Officers whose names have gone down in history as being the frontiers of this victory:Lt.Gen. Harbaksh Singh (Western Army Command), AM Arjan Singh (Chief of the Air Staff) and Maj.Gen. Gurbaksh Singh (GOC, 15th Infantry Division).
Despite having all odds against him, Shastri’s decision to consult Sant Ji Maharaj for blessings proved to be influential and rewarding. Its in occurrences like this that we are able to truly observe that Sant Ji Maharaj was a Tri-Kaal Darsi (having the knowledge of the past, present and future) Mahapurkh, through whose grace many such possible tragedies were halted.
Please forgive us for any mistakes.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio.
