Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,

At Gurdwara Sant Ashram, (Dhablan Sahib, Patiala) a Sadhu (holy man) entered the Langar with a container in his hand. The Sadhu was very egotistical about the amount of meditation he had carried out in his lifetime. The Sadhu had accumulated many spiritual powers and instead of keeping them anonymous to himself, he was now about to use them on the Sevadar’s at Dhablan Sahib’s Langar. Guru Sahib Ji says:

ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਸਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
Riches and the supernatural spiritual powers of the Siddhas are all emotional attachments; through them, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, does not come to dwell in the mind.

The present Sevadar’s served the Sadhu with utmost respect as during Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji (Rara Sahib Wale)’s time, any visiting or passing saints were treated with love and devotion as per the instruction of Sant Ji Maharaj themselves. The Sadhu presented his small container and ordered the Sevadar’s to fill it with milk. The Sevadar expected the container to hold a few cups worth of milk, however to his astonishment, all the milk in the Langar was used up for the container. The Sadhu had used his supernatural powers in an attempt to ridicule Sant Ji Maharaj’s never-ending Langar and in order to gain respect for himself as an excelled Maha-Purakh.

The Sevadar then ran to Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji and explained what had happened and the fact that the container was still not full. Sant Ji Maharaj replied: “He has become trapped amongst these spiritual powers..” Upon saying this, Sant Ji Maharaj went themselves to the Langar and spoke to the Sadhu. Approaching him, the Sadhu continued his ridiculing and said to Sant Ji Maharaj how his container still wasn’t full.

Sant Ji Maharaj turned to the ‘Sri-Mann-Ji’ of the Langar and asked whether there was any milk left. The ‘Sri-Mann-Ji’ explained that there were mere droplets at the bottom to which Sant Ji Maharaj grabbed the dish themselves and said – “Jogi Naath, do not worry, your container will most definitely be full” As Sant Ji Maharaj poured the milk, those mere droplets took the form of a river. The milk that Sant Ji Maharaj began to pour into the Sadhu’s container began to overflow and flow all across the surrounding area. The Sadhu’s attempt at trying to defame the renown Langar of Rara Sahib was an embarrassing failure.

When narrating this Sakhi, Sant Baba Mann Singh Ji (Pehowa Wale) explained that Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj had told them the following Bachan: “Regardless of any other mistake you may make in your life, make sure you never make the mistake of allowing the fire in the cauldron to extinguish (stop the serving of Langar in simple terms).” In accordance to this Bachan, Baba Ji constantly stresses the importance of distributing Langar openly amongst the Sangat at all of their Asthan’s worldwide. Baba Ji has constantly reassured Sevadar’s to not worry about expenses or Langar finishing as the Langar of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj can never finish!

Please forgive us for any mistakes.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio.
