Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
At Rara Sahib, a Sevadar who was responsible for many important duties in the Langar approached Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale) and handed over his keys. Sant Ji Maharaj asked the Sevadar his reason for wanting to leave his Seva at Rara Sahib. The Sevadar explained that he would now get married and live a Grisst Jeevan (work/family orientated lifestyle).
Sant Ji Maharaj asked the Sevadar what the problem was and why the sudden change in his attitude towards Seva. The Sevadar explained that whilst carrying out Langar Seva his mind produces certain thoughts and desires towards the Sangat that he believed may affect the reputation of Gurdwara Karamsar Rara Sahib should these thoughts and desires ever come into practise. The Sevadar explained that he didn’t want to do anything whereby the reputation of Sant Ji Maharaj and Rara Sahib was discredited and so believed that it was best for him to leave.
Sant Ji Maharaj then placed their hand on the Sevadar’s head and after a few minutes asked how he was feeling. The Sevadar explained that he no longer was experiencing any disturbing thoughts and now felt the same attitude towards Seva as he did before. Sant Ji Maharaj then passed the Sevadar his keys back and explained – “You asked for this Seva from Dargaah; do not waver now under any circumstance! Carry out this Seva to the extent you intended to when you asked for it!”
The above Saakhi explains how Sant Mahapurkh are influential in helping to sustain our attitude towards carrying out Seva. A blessing from a Sant is capable of giving us the required boost to continue our Seva of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and of the Guru-Roop Saadh Sangat.
Please forgive us for any mistakes.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio.
