Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
The following is a small glimpse at Sant Baba Balwant Singh Ji (Sri Mann Ji)’s Jeevan:
Sant Baba Balwant Singh Ji (Sri Mann Ji) were a prominent figure at Rara Sahib – having carried out restless Langar Seva. It is said that “Sri Mann Ji” didn’t lie down on their back for forty years, which gives us in an insight into the intensity of their Seva. “Sri Mann Ji” passed away in 2006 and had immense love for Sant Baba Mann Singh Ji (Pehowa Wale) and Sant Baba Mohan Singh Ji (Langaran Wale) – stories of which will be shared in the coming future.
“Sri Mann Ji” had good intentions at a young age, having respect for Sant Mahapurkh and a desire to carry out Seva. “Sri Mann Ji”‘s younger sister Bibi Tej Kaur, was married to Sardar Prem Singh of Hiaane Kalan (near Nabha), a family who were all devotees of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale). “Sri Mann Ji” went with their sister’s in-laws to listen to Sant Ji Maharaj’s Kirtan at Gurdwara Sant Ashram, Dhablan Sahib, and from that point experienced such a connection, that “Sri Mann Ji” renounced all thoughts about going to any other Sant. They solemnly devoted themselves to Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj and for one year without fail, went to listen to Sant Ji Maharaj’s Kirtan at Dhablan Sahib on Dasvi. “Sri Mann Ji” would also attend Pooranmashi and Sangraand Divans of Sant Ji Maharaj at Gurdwara Karamsar (Rara Sahib) after which in 1965 they eventually began to live at Rara Sahib permanently.
After asking Sant Ji Maharaj methods to carry out meditation, “Sri Mann Ji” carried out agricultural work in the fields of Rara Sahib for a year. Following this, “Sri Mann Ji” was given the responsibility of attending to the flowers outside of Sant Ji Maharaj’s Bhora Sahib.
In 1968, “Sri Mann Ji” was appointed the head of the Langar and from this point did not lie down or request to be given a room to stay in. “Sri Mann Ji” maintained an intense routine of Seva at Rara Sahib – only when they were extremely tired would they lean against the wall for support and sleep minimally whilst seated upright. Even until the late age of 80 and perhaps more (as this extract was published in 1994), “Sri Mann Ji” would be ever ready to serve Sangat with their own hands…
Please forgive us for any mistakes
