Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,

A family from the village of Majhaara began attending Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj’s Divaans at Rara Sahib. Sant Ji Maharaj noticed that these individuals were immensely poor and so recommended for them to invest in sewing machines and start making clothes for a living.

The family consisted of four brothers, of which the oldest one was named Kartar Singh who was responsible for purchasing the sewing machines and starting off the business. He began inviting Sant Ji Maharaj to his village Majhaara and organising regular Kirtan Divaan’s. This family’s commitment to Sant Ji Maharaj’s Bachan lead them to enjoy much success. The business excelled to such a height, that there were now 600 workers under Kartar Singh and the small business developed into an enormous workshop. Many prestigious British figures would also visit the workshop and be so impressed that they would offer more advanced sewing machines to the business as prizes.

The family was able to maintain much success and a comfortable lifestyle so long as they remained faithful to the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and the guidance of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji. However, when the family’s sons took charge of the business, they had forgotten the blessings that they had been bestowed upon them and instead of following Sikh Maryada, they began doing the opposite.

He loves gifts, but he forgets the Giver.
The successors to the business began engaging in Manmat activities – drinking alcohol and dancing to songs at the very spot where once Sant Ji Maharaj’s Kirtan Divans would take place. In a matter of days, the business became shambles. Looters stole all of the sewing machines and were transporting them all around India – the machines had been distributed so far that it had become impossible to trace them. Jathedar Sant Baba Mohinder Singh Ji (Rara Sahib Wale) who narrated this Saakhi, commented saying “Such occurrences are just to He who forgets the Lord…”
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj are our everything, whatever we ask for, we are given. However it is our duty to remember Maharaj in times of happiness as well as in times of distress and pain. Sant Ji Maharaj says – ‘Tapo Raaj, Raajo Narak” (we receive wealth through remembrance of the Lord, and through wealth we achieve hell.) Why is this so? Because we begin to view ourselves as the reasoning for our success – forgetting Maharaj. Sant Ji Maharaj teaches us that to avoid “Raajo Narak” we must remember Maharaj in times of happiness such as when they answer our prayers and shower us with such blessings…
Please forgive us for any mistakes.
