Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
The following is a short Saakhi of when Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale) and Sant Baba Kishan Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale) were meditating in the jungle of ‘Rara Sahib’. This derelict land was now about to be transformed by the power of Waheguru Simran and these two Mahapurkh; who had sacrificed their wealth, their body and their mind for the sake of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and the Sangat. During times of winter, both Mahapurkh did not even consider wearing clothes and in love of Waheguru, instead wore cotton flour bags around their necks to keep them warm. They would both bathe in freezing cold water at Amritvela, thus adhering to the principle of hygiene. Under no circumstance did both Mahapurkh allow their to be a disturbance in their routine.
In one such instance, Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj were absorbed in Naam and for 7 whole days they did not falter from their ‘Smaadhi’ state. Sant Kishan Singh Ji Maharaj observed them closely and even tried to awake Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji from this state.
On the 8th day, a ‘Mahapurkh’ appeared and addressed both Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji and Sant Baba Kishan Singh Ji. On the arrival of this Mahapurkh, Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji awoke from their week long meditative state and folded their hands in respect of what the Mahapurkh was about to say. The Mahapurkh turned to them both and said “Look around, as far as your eyes can see, that land is becoming blessed. There will be an enormous transformation at this here spot – Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s Langar will flourish here! There will be masses of Sangat…” Upon giving this prophecy the Mahapurkh disappeared.
Wherever ‘Naam’ and ‘Gurbani’ are recited, the land becomes pure. The more Naam Baani we carry out at a certain place, the more peaceful the spot becomes – it’s for this reason that we are recommended by Sants and Granthi Singhs to carry out our Nitnem in one room or spot everyday. Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji and Sant Baba Kishan Singh Ji endured such difficulties and obstacles for the sake of the Sangat. It is through the immense meditation and service of these Mahapurkh, that 10’s of 1000’s of individuals are able to experience the bliss of Gurbani Paath, Gurbani Kirtan, Gurbani Veechar, Seva and Simran. Whatever these Mahapurkh had they truly gave to the Sangat, leaving nothing for themselves. It is through their sacrifice, that we today are able to practise Sikhi so easily and comfortably.
Please forgive us for any mistakes.
