Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,

ਕਬੀਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਉ ਦੁਇ ਭਲੇ ਏਕੁ ਸੰਤੁ ਇਕੁ ਰਾਮੁ ॥
Kabeer, it is good to perform selfless service for two – the Saints and the Lord.
ਰਾਮੁ ਜੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕੋ ਸੰਤੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧੬੪॥
The Lord is the Giver of liberation, and the Saint inspires us to chant the Naam. ||164||

Sant Ji Maharaj

A group of poor individuals decided they would come together and collectively make a request to Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale) to help them with their poverty and poor situation. Another individual mocked these individuals by saying: “How do you expect for Sant Maharaj to listen to any of you? You have no money… even your clothes are practically rags”. When narrating this Sakhi, Sant Baba Mann Singh Ji (Pehowa Wale) explained that Sant Mahapurkh are not attuned to money and wealth. They are instead out to help poor individuals and support them through joining them with Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Sant Mahapurkh are not concerned with their own personal profits to be gained from devotees, but are instead concerned with to what extent they can help individuals improve their Gursikhi Jeevan.

Nevertheless, about 50 to 100 individuals gathered to meet Sant Ji Maharaj and explained: “We are extremely poor, its not even a case of work, we work very hard, but we are unable to maintain a comfortable living standard. Every year in the summer months of ‘Jeth’ and ‘Haarh’, our houses made of hay set on fire and then we are inclined to yet again repair these again and again… Baba Ji, please visit our colony and bless us with liberation from poverty.” Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj, alas the ocean of compassion and the heartbeat of the poor, agreed to visit the colony the next day.

Upon arriving, the poor individuals relayed the same request, asking that their houses would stop burning every year. Sant Ji Maharaj replied after carefully listening to their request and said – “All of you should come together and chant the Naam of Waheguru…these temporary homes you have made out of hay, if you Jap Naam, they will become mansions and palaces. Such is the power of Naam…” Those who pass this village in present times have spoke of the expensive houses that have been built in place of the hay-made houses, all due to the fact that these individuals followed Sant Ji Maharaj’s Bachan on chanting Naam.

The blessings and powers are all in the Naam, but only those who are very fortunate have the understanding to Jap Naam. The understanding and guidance on how to Jap Naam is attained from Sant Mahapurkh as is stated by Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj time and time again…

Please forgive us for any mistakes.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio…
