Upon Sant Baba Kishan Singh Ji Maharaj’s heavenly abode, Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji continued to follow the Bachan given to them by Shotte Sant Ji Maharaj. When looking at the various deeds that Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Maharaj carried out in their lifetime, many Sangat at Rara Sahib observed Baba Ji as a blessed soul – a rare gem. During their final years, Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji would always be imbued in ‘Naam Simran’ and would enjoy their time in the Bhora Sahib. Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji would bless Sangat with Darshan in the morning and evening for approximately half an hour at both times. Baba Ji would listen to the troubles and pains of the Sangat at Rara Sahib and shower blessings on the Sangat to ensure them that their problems will be solved in maintaining faith in the Guru, reciting Gurbani and partaking in Seva.

Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji had become very fragile in their mortal frame and consequently would speak very little. However, if they felt the need, they would address the Sangat and tell them to “Jap Naam, refrain from jealousy of others, do not look at anyone’s faults and to do Ardas for Sarbat Da Bhala…” Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji would tell the Sangat to see ‘Parmeshar’ within all. Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji had so much humility in the way that they spoke, that it would often surprise Sangat that would come to meet them.

Naam Simran

Naam Simran

One time, Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj (Rara Sahib Wale) was carrying out Nirbaan Kirtan Updesh in Ludhiana, there was a mass gathering of Sangat in which Sant Fateh Singh Ji was also present. During that time, there was a lot of confusion regarding the Five Takhts, some were suggesting that there are four and others were stating that there are five. In the end, the Sant Smaaj and Sant Fateh Singh Ji agreed that there were Five Takhts. Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj called Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji and told them to say ‘Five Takht’ in place of ‘Four Takht’s’ during the Ardas. Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji followed Sant Ji Maharaj’s Bachan to which Sant Fateh Singh Ji became very happy upon hearing. Sant Fateh Singh Ji thanked Sant Ji Maharaj after the Ardas and Hukamnama by saying: “Although this issue had been solved on paper, by mentioning it in the Ardas, you have gained approval from Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and the Guru-Roop Sadh Sangat. Thank you…” And so, the amendment of the Ardas was first recited by Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Maharaj. Baba Ji conducted service in the Bhora Sahib for almost forty years – regardless of their physical well-being, until their last breath, Baba Ji remained true to their Seva.

It is said that if anyone asked for their wishes to be fulfilled from Baba Ji, that Baba Ji would sent the individual to Darbar Sahib and tell them to conduct the Ardas themselves in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Mahapurkh always give ‘Updesh’ to join the Sangat with Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and aren’t concerned with people who become attached to them. As prevalent in Baba Ji’s case, they prefer for people to join with Guru Ji Maharaj before themselves.

In the memory of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj, a college was opened to serve the local community in need of quality education. After opening this college, it was offered to the local authorities to administer, however the authorities failed to recognise its importance and instead displayed a lot of neglect towards the college causing it to lose colour and become damaged. The principle of the school requested Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Maharaj to amend these faults in the college. Baba Ji spent 100,000’s of Rupees on repairing the school and in accordance to tradition – did their utmost for the Sangat.

Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Maharaj dedicated 65 years of their 87 year long life at Rara Sahib carrying out non-stop Seva. As discussed in the earlier parts to this Jeevani, even before Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji arrived at Rara Sahib, they adhered to strong Gurmat Principles and had a desire for Seva-Simran from a very young age. It was on the 9th of December 2014 at 8:00AM that Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Maharaj departed from their mortal frame and merged back with Vaheguru. Following this, Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji’s Jal Pravah (burial in water) was conducted at Gurdwara Bibhaur Sahib (Nangal, Punjab) – at the Gurdwara Sahib where Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji Maharaj compiled the ‘Sri Chaupai Sahib’. Many Sants associated with the Rara Sahib Samparda have had their body buried in the River that flows here. Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Maharaj’s service of both Rara Sahib Mahapurkh’s for 40 years and Seva in the Bhora Sahib thereafter for 25 years will always be remembered by the devotees of Rara Sahib and of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj. For those who have been separated from Baba Ji, they must now attempt to look at the teachings of Baba Ji as their support in life and never refrain from Seva and Simran. Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj had taught the Sangat that although they keep company with Sant Mahapurkh, they must not become attached with a body and instead should focus on becoming attached with the ‘Shabad’.

The praise of such Mahapurkh is limitless and indescribable and henceforth we do not consider this attempt at writing the Jeevani accurate to its full extent.
