Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
After conducting six years of non stop selfless service in the Langar at Rara Sahib, Chotte Sant Ji Maharaj, Sant Baba Kishan Singh Ji Maharaj gave the Langar duty to Bhai Sher Singh (Jalle Wala) and so following this, in 1955 Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Maharaj went to meet the great Mahapursh – Sant Baba Jvala Singh Ji Maharaj (Harkhowal Wale). It was at this point, that Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji ‘Khalsa’ (Bhindranwale) were carrying out Katha (discourse) on Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji and Suraj Prakash at Harkhowal. In the mornings, Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji would conduct Katha for all members of the Sangat and towards midday, they would conduct Katha for eager students. Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji would listen to Katha from Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji ‘Khalsa’ at both of these times, and for 18 days Sant Baba Teja Singh ji remained at Harkhowal. Once the Katha had come to an end, Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji went to many historic Gurdwara’s and later returned back to Rara Sahib.
Upon returning to Rara Sahib, Sant Baba Kishan Singh Ji Maharaj gave Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Seva of remaining at a well near the river at Rara Sahib and to recite Sri Rehras Sahib in the evening to the Sangat in the Darbar Sahib. In obeying Chotte Sant Ji Maharaj’s word, Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji would organise all the vegetables that were to be used in the Langar and carry out the Seva of reciting Rehras Sahib. Aside to all of this, Baba Ji would also participate in Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj’s Seva when able to.
It was in this days that Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj would visit neighbouring villages and attend Sri Akhand Paath Sahib and Asa Di Vaar recitations in the homes of local devotees. Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji would also be present during Sant Ji Maharaj’s visits. One day, both Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj and Sant Baba Kishan Singh Ji Maharaj were seated together in the Gurdwara Sahib. There had been much discussion about opening a new school in the area and so there was a large presence of individuals alongside both Sant Ji Maharaj and Chotte Sant Ji Maharaj. As the discussions continued, one individual began to speak out of ego and challenged Sant Ji Maharaj as to whether anyone present in the Sangat could remain in the ‘Kupali’ posture than this individual could. Sant Ji Maharaj called for a Singh to call Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji. Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji accepted Sant Ji Maharaj’s order and sat peacefully in the ‘Kupali’ posture alongside the other individual. The other individual eventually accepted defeat and asked for forgiveness from Sant Ji Maharaj for behaving in such a egotistical manner.
When the Sangat of Delhi requested Sant Ji Maharaj to carry out Katha there, it was at this time that Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji accompanied Sant Ji Maharaj. Sant Ji Maharaj’s ‘Hazuri Jatha’ was not with them and so the Sangat of Delhi would carry out Kirtan, where after Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji would recitre Sri Rehras Sahib and Ardas, after which Sant Ji Maharaj would take a Hukamnama and do Katha for an hour. After returning to Gurdwara Karamsar Rara Sahib, Sant Ji Maharaj called for Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji to meet them in the Bhora Sahib. Sant Ji Maharaj then told Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji to prepare ‘Missa-Prashad’ for them and from this point, Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji’s Seva for Sant Ji Maharaj intensified and gradually, Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji was responsible for preparing Sant Ji Maharaj’s food at all times. Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji Maharaj would carry out Seva for Sant Ji Maharaj from 1:30AM to 11PM and so obtained many blessings from Sant Ji Maharaj as a result of such devoted service.
